Local Weekly Opportunities
Monday:
Grand Rapids Swing is teaching a Lindy Hop lesson from 7:00 – 8:00 pm at the Social Dance Studio located at 4335 Lake Michigan Drive. Cost is $7 per person.
Tuesday:
The Grand Rapids Original Swing Society (G.R.O.S.S.) is hosting another swing dancing lesson at 7:00 pm followed by DJed music until 10:00 PM at Rosa Park Circle. A suggested donation of $4 is appreciated.
Friday:
The Social Dance Studio is hosting its weekly Friday night social dance located at 4335 Lake Michigan Drive. The party begins 8 PM and continues untill 11 PM. Cost is $7.
Sunday:
Come Join local singles for a social dance at Lincoln Country Club located at 3485 Lake Michigan Drive in Grand Rapids every Sunday night. A group dance lesson is offered from 5:30-7:00 PM followed by social dancing until 10:00. Cost is $4 for the lesson and $8 for the dance. The dancing is in the ballrooms below the bowling alley.
Regional Opportunities
As much as we love our dancing here in our great city, we love to encourage everyone to experience the WORLD of swing dancing! We support the efforts of our sister scenes wholeheartedly, and are now pushing to provide you with a comprehensive list of regional events we presonally reccommend attending!
Monday’s:
If you got the urban itch, and a want for some quality swing dance action… Fizz Bar & Grill provides a home for local Chicago dancers every Monday Night from 9pm-1am! – Cost: $6/$4 student

Tuesday’s:
The State Swingers hold their weekly swing dance at the Gilchrist Hall Pub on the MSU Campus. Lessons from: 7:30-9pm Open Dance: 9-11pm – Cost: Free!
Sunday’s:
CMU Swing Kids is a Registered Student Organization at Central Michigan University, but they are open to community participation! Located at Finch Fieldhouse, Room 113(gym behind the rock-climbing wall), Lessons start at 7pm, with Open dancing beginning at 8pm. – Cost: Free!
Monthly/Varying
Swing Ann Arbor and Ann Arbor Council for Traditional Music and Dance are both great organizations based in Ann Arbor, MI that provide a wide variety of swing dance events and workshops. This scene has developed a close friendship with Grand Rapids Swing, and we try and support them in every opportunity we can!
Swing Detroit, once a powerhouse of swing awesomeness is now bringing back some of rich heritage of years past, resurrecting DetLX and throwing handfulls of weekly and monthly dances. Interested in a quality road trip? Check them out!
SwingColumbus is a scene that is progressively becomming one of the premeire scenes in the midwest! They have events spreading throughout the week, as well as Monthly dances and Top-Notch workshops. This is one scene that you will hearing more from in the future!
Naptown Stomp is Indianapolis’s premiere hometown swing troup. As they continue to work in building a community of swing dancers and a great atmosphere, they will be sure to attract alot of dancing traffic as they continue to grow and host more and more great events and workshops!
